KPHO Backup Installed

In an effort to add a bit of local flavor to the site, I asked Jon Thorwaldson (J.T.) to share his recent experiences with the members. I hope you enjoy his writing as much as I did!

As you all know, a good backup plan includes backup equipment.  If that equipment doesn’t exist, one failure can turn catastrophic real quick.  That is what happened at KPHO TV almost a year ago when we lost a piece of our transmission line.  This was actually the only loss of this kind that has happened to us in the thirty six years I have been here.  Being off-air for more than a few minutes never turns out to be a good thing.  To help improve the odds of that not happening again, KPHO has now finished the installation of a new auxiliary transmitter and antenna.
