Radio Broadcast Engineer-Tucson

RADIO BROADCAST ENGINEER - Clear Channel Media & Entertainment, Tucson has an immediate opening for a full-time broadcast engineer. Successful candidates should have a familiarity with radio broadcast operations including maintenance of broadcast automation and studio equipment, RF equipment and computer/IT skills. This is a service oriented position requiring excellent written and oral communication, personable interaction with fellow employees and organizational skills. You must be able to work independently and as a team member.  Occasional night and weekend work is expected and must be on-call and available to respond 24/7. You must be able to climb ladders, work in small spaces and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. For consideration you must possess a valid state driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.  A minimum of 5 years experience is required. SBE certification is a plus. KPHO Backup Installed

In an effort to add a bit of local flavor to the site, I asked Jon Thorwaldson (J.T.) to share his recent experiences with the members. I hope you enjoy his writing as much as I did!

IT’S GOOD TO BACKUP WHEN MOVING FORWARD!

As you all know, a good backup plan includes backup equipment.  If that equipment doesn’t exist, one failure can turn catastrophic real quick.  That is what happened at KPHO TV almost a year ago when we lost a piece of our transmission line.  This was actually the only loss of this kind that has happened to us in the thirty six years I have been here.  Being off-air for more than a few minutes never turns out to be a good thing.  To help improve the odds of that not happening again, KPHO has now finished the installation of a new auxiliary transmitter and antenna.
